White Mountain Peak 11-20-2005 : Last year, Marshall and I decided to climb White Mountain Peak (highest peak in the White Mountains, which is the range across the Owens Valley to the East of the Sierra) since winter got a late start (kind of like this year). The peak tops out at 14,246' and is the third highest peak in California, but the hike is relatively easy since there is some form of a road all the way to the top and a research station partway up. To make it more interesting we did it at night in order to catch the sunrise on top.

Half Dome 7-7-2006 - 7-8-2006 : In order to celebrate Brad's impending departure from bachelordom, a whole boatload of boys decided to hike up Half Dome in the middle of the night. We left the cars around midnight and started up the actual trail to Half Dome around 1am due to a wrong turn. Our goal was to catch the sunrise on top, but hiking at night proved to have many other benefits as well. We avoided crowds, heat, and any visual indication of just how far we had yet to climb. Damon carried his guitar to the top, and his music in that setting under a rising sun was by far the highlight of a fantastic trip.
